Biography
Morton O'Kelly is a Professor and the Chair of the Department of Geography, at The Ohio State University. He was an Associate Dean of the College of Social and Behavioral Sciences at Ohio State from 2000 to 2003 and a Project Leader at OSU's Urban and Regional Analysis Initiative from 1999 to 2001.
He received his B.A. in geography and economics from University College Dublin. He earned an M. A. in geography and a Ph.D. in geography from McMaster University.
Professor O'Kelly works on network analysis, location theory and Global Information Systems and spatial analysis. His current research interests include the application of network analysis to specific accessibility problems, especially in the study of urban transportation and Internet accessibility.
Professor O'Kelly is also working to measure the degree of efficiency in urban commuting patterns in comparison to particular benchmarks from the point of optimization.
Selected co-authored publications include: Geography of Transportation (1996) and Spatial Interaction Models: Formulations and Applications (1989). Selected articles include: Survivability of Commercial Backbones with Peering: A Case Study of Korean Networks (2007) and Internet Reliability with Realistic Peering (2006).
